Graffiti to Design - Transportation for a Rebel

LM-CM (Lamborghini Colourmachine) is aimed at revitalising the Lamborghini brand with

a more rebellious character, and to express this in a concept vehicle. A fictional scenario and

character was developed as the basis for the concept. The LM-CM should bring colour back

into the greyness of everyday life and symbolise the urge to find new paths_ "

Here are some of the few sketches I have done at the beginning of my diploma,

for design-direction_
My overall aim was to achieve the feeling of Graffitis DNA:

comic - kalligraphie - abstract painting.

The first sketches here are just a selection of thumbnails I have created.

Actually I think they are way more interesting then the final design and modell.

It will be a challenge for me to get this emotion, a rough sketch like this has to me, into

modell or final product one day_ if this is possible at all.

The image below is already to tight for my taste. To defined at beeing undefined at the same time. I see it more as an graphical surface composition.

Actually quite untipicall for my photoshop style to take a white background. But for these thumbnails it helps a lot to melt the object with the background and create a mix of 2D and 3D appearance. Quite fun these doodels, BUT ME LAZY!! :(

Finding the right mood for the car, I waslooking to develope for Lamborghini, this 30min thumbnail helped me a lot. I know still a lot of time for a thumbnail in this rough quality, but I have to say, I´m really having a hard time on these paintings. I´m just not doing my homework enough - lazy boy!

The "S" helped me trying to analyse the character I was trying to aim. Dynamic, with complex elements seen as protection(left). Not overloaded(right), totally protected and armed,with no space showing character - personality. After the mood was created it was somehow quite easy to continue.

Above a sketch wich had the expression I somehow wanted to carry into the final modell.

Below is an thumbnail sketch of the plain I actually wanted to build, next to the LM-CM.

The whole story around was quite exiting for me and at the same time frustrateing. I think I was just too much into the thought process and story of everything to the last bit, that time for design had to run out. BUT, for me it will continue and I will keep working on the iedations to finish it oneday.

The ideation besides the story was to create a design that should later inspire the language of the Lamborghini "artcars", or so called COLOUR-MACHINES.

More organic and positive in it`s appearance and behaviour then today_

still letting Lamborghini be a real BAD-BOYS brand!

Design Miami/Basel

Just in the last days before I have my diploma presentation... FINALLY**

Last week I had the oppertunity to go to Basel(Switzerland) for three days.
No, not for the EU soccer Cup _ for the Design Miami/Basel where Audi is the main sponsor.

AUDI INTERIOR (7th term)

FINALLY DONE! Well, almost. some little preperations for the final Show and then I´ll head towards Munich to start my Diploma project.
Closer informations on this project you`ll receive in person on 8/9th February at the show
in Pforzheim. Here some fotos of the 95% finished 1:4(125cm length) foam scale modell.

Well,
dont know how the winter really is _ as munich is grey not white as usual.
Grey, also the only color I see since a week, giving my 7th term project a
sandpaper massage over the filler.
Below a tiny-tiny sneak in topview _ of the Audi-sponsored Interieur Term.

School - puh. "dunkeldeutschland" - puh. Hard to keep awake and try to rock a nice project this semester. On top they say it’s gonna be great winter _ you know what that means for me_ Anyway, here are visualisations of the three characters for the ongoing AUDI project. I haven’t drawn figures for a long time so this was a nice practice.

The finally chosen one was THE FAMILY HERO.

Bunch of accessories and future material thinking I had for the scenario of 2038.
The women friendly "H2-RS " (high-heel-race-sneaker) is one of my personal favourite, while the others are more advanced material and future product appearance related.
The interior itself is getting along and tomorrow I’ll (hopefully) start tape drawing.
By the way, sorry for my English_ but this is for my friends out there who wouldn’t understand a word German. ( besides my german is not better .) )

The image above was the first direction I hav thought of for the BIZ.
You see, I have also adjusted her appearance a bit. Fresher includeing expensiv sleeves (tatoos)
if you look closer.
She`s a really fresh personality and has a sensible taste.
The car is completly out of recycled materials and is on purpose as narrow as it´s original Monza. (...actually there is more to tell, but I´m tired of hitting keys , especially on the "e" a billion times .)) It´s broken. A regular txt would rady lik this if I would just not car about th eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The sideview above carries a funny aproach for ThePRINCESS.
Trough diversity of new technologies great packages can be developet, BUT_
the society will not exept any different appearance of a car if we allways show them the
same image. So the idea here is, to work with the traditional proportions but develope a whole
new concept.
The Princess can walk into this car from the front_on her catwalk_ on it`s end ther is a cosy seating lounge waiting for her girltalks or lovely twosome moments _

The Intercity Transportation above, kind of luxury sculptural public transportation, where commuters have to be members and get recognized for a ride via identificational scan.

The idea of the "catamaran-seating" areas for the Quattrostack was born here.

If I wouldn’t have spent the money on my V8 (which should come on 27.Nov-YEAH!)_
I’d definitely be in Tokyo now having great fun with some of the NDE team members.
Now here in Pforzheim, back on a sponsor project with AUDI, the time at NISSAN was rich of
Unforgettable experiences and amazing new friendships. No words to capture this time_ pure emotion! The most wonderful might be_ to really see something becoming touchable, useable just from a white peace of paper (or an empty file...), shown to the public and not like mostly locked away.
The feeling is kind like "illegal graffiti"_ only the ones who should know, know who did what.
Doing a car is like being in a "writers-crew"_ each member has a unique style and skill and supports one vision. In the end, the car is like a panel on a train _ done within a deadline, so compromises are standard.

Design is not always what you want.(butalwayswhatIwant.)

FIRST IMAGES OF THE CONCEPTCAR

The showcar "NV200", I´ve worked on during my time at Nissan is already shown online,

before the Tokyo autoshow.

Great to see all the work come so far and been released now to the public and NOT locked away,

or like in the graff-scene "buffed of in the yard".

Have a look to youtube and get a first impression of the TOOLBOX, as I liked to call it.

I love the Music they`ve choosed_ like in the 80ies when diving was really big!

The A-team sound wouldn`t be a bad decission eather... I think I should mail Bertrand, my little french friend and do a version .)

I guess there will always be components and corners you will never stop to complain about _

while they are limited to the budget,time or just the decission of the authority you can`t run over .)

The various experience in designprocess I have made during this project,the people I have met and friends I have made not to forget the trust the whole team,company had put into me and my work is a very nice gift!

I hope we get another chanche in the future...

YES, I have to transform everything into a toy!

I was thinking durig the whole semester_ ANTIGRAVITATION,IS THE KEY! But nobody believed in it(why-O-why),

besides my old fellow A.ZAJAC!

He build these turbines, in the end crazy realistic looking,with every screw_ but I had never time to support these modells with doing nice renderings.... maybe when I`m retired one day and this data is still alive!

Leaving London behind... I was right on time back in Munich for the snow-season!

Two Days brake after the Nissan Internship I started at AUDIs-Konzept-Design Studio in the heart of Munich.(This studio could not be more hidden_BOND!)

Besides this tapedrawing I did together with Patrick D. in the VIP-parking area of the

Alianz-Arena, I had great fun doing conceptual work for the next Lamborghini Interieur.

(The Renault in the picture is NOT mine_ it´s from the studios SOUNDMACHINE! .)

NDE LONDON

After the 5th Semester I was finally ready for my first Internship.

3months Löndön! During my stay at Nissan Design Europe I was actually willing

to copy this city into my sketchbook _ but somehow I was more into spending 13hours in average inside the studio...

I was banned to the desk dreaming,doodling,sketching and painting_

I made fantastic friends there who still have a impact on my development.

The concept-car I was working on is now called NV200 and will be released on 22ndOktober in Tokyo.
